Boxes

Date: 2011 spring
Size: size is varied
Medium: Plywood, found objects

These are the boxes I created for myself. I saw Joseph Cornell's artist box at the Art Institute of Chicago and fell in love with this concept. I found broken objects in the second-hand store, and I crafted my box with exposed wood in the wood shop. The wood boxes serve as a graphic template to place my objects on to evoke the relationship between each other. The objects I placed have their memories with their previous owner combined with my memories during the process of construction. The juxtaposition of my memories and the predecessor's memories create an extension of emotional experiences.
